After much anticipation, Museum of The Future has become one of the top family attractions in Dubai since it opened its doors to the public on 22.2.2022 as Dubai’s latest cultural institution.
The Museum of The Future is located next to DIFC just off of Sheik Zayed Road, beside the Emirates Towers building. The immersive exhibition space is spread over seven floors and aims to introduce visitors to the possibilities for the future – specifically how the next 50 years might play out in the United Arab Emirates and beyond.
The current exhibitions explore the future of space travel and living, climate change and ecology, health, wellness and spirituality as well as near-future technologies from pioneering innovators. There’s also a special space dedicated to children. Through a playful and educational environment, Future Heroes encourages kids to develop future-proof skills. When you’re done inside head out to the viewing deck. The viewing deck is situated in the middle of the inner curve of the building and offers an impressive Insta backdrop. Check out their programming to discover special talks with innovators, scientists, and key industry individuals to learn more about their visions of the future. The aim is for the museum to become a centre for understanding future trends in science and technological sectors.
The Museum of The Future has become a landmark thanks to its distinctive architecture and unusual torus shape. At 77 metres tall spread across an area of 30,000 sq metres, the stainless steel and fibreglass structure was produced using modern techniques including computer-controlled machining tools. The glass has been cut into Arabic calligraphy which functions as windows. Museum of The Future has already been named one of the ‘most beautiful buildings in the world’. The design embodies three key elements: the hill, the structure, and the void and aims to represent Dubai’s vision of the future. Pass by at night to take in the impressive calligraphy which is illuminated with energy-saving LED lighting. The text recounts the sentiments of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid including his iconic quote: “The future belongs to those who can imagine it, design it, and execute it. It isn’t something you await, but rather create.”
