Lion in the Sun, the creation of F1 entrepreneur Flavio Briatore, is preparing to open at Mandarin Oriental Downtown Dubai before the end of the year. Perched at the top of the hotel, the venue introduces its signature “salotto in the sky” concept, inspired by the original retreat in Kenya and reimagined for Dubai. The design blends dramatic elements with a warm, social atmosphere that has long attracted international names such as Naomi Campbell.
At the helm of the kitchen, chef Batuhan Piatti Zeynioglu brings Mediterranean influences and the craft of cooking over open fire. His menu emphasizes seasonal ingredients, flame-kissed meats and seafood, and dishes made for sharing. Each plate is designed to highlight texture, smoke, and balance, creating a dining experience that feels both refined and relaxed.
When it opens, Lion in the Sun will join an already notable line-up at Mandarin Oriental Downtown, which includes Billionaire, Chitarra, Noia, and Yu & Mi. The addition signals a further strengthening of the hotel’s culinary reputation. With its blend of glamour, soul, and heritage-inspired style, Lion in the Sun is set to become one of Dubai’s most anticipated new dining destinations.
