Dubai ranked second globally for digital nomads in 2025, thanks to its vibrant expat scene, year-round safety, and mild winters. The city’s Virtual Work Visa valid for one year makes relocating easier, granting remote workers residency without needing a local sponsor. With this permit, individuals can rent housing, access healthcare, sponsor family members, and enjoy everyday city life.
Eligibility for the visa requires proof of employment with a company based outside the UAE and a minimum monthly income of AED 12,800 (around $3,500). Required documents include a valid passport, proof of remote work, health insurance, a salary certificate, and a medical fitness test result. Applicants can first obtain a 60-day entry visa to complete their one-year residency and get an Emirates ID.
There are three application methods: online via the GDRFA Dubai website, at a GDRFA customer happiness center, or through an Amer Service Centre. Applicants must log in using UAE Pass or a registered account, fill out the form, and pay the necessary service fees. In-person applications require a turn ticket and submission of all required documents to a service agent.
