The Dubai Gold Souk Extension marks a major transformation of one of the city’s most historic commercial districts. While preserving the traditional architectural charm of the original souk, the expansion has grown the area to over two kilometres wide and three kilometres long, now home to more than 900 merchants. Opened as part of the Deira Enrichment Project, the Extension offers a more modern and convenient experience with shaded walkways, retail workshops, co-working spaces, and improved visitor amenities.

The Extension features 295 new shops, with over 50 jewellery brands already operational and more on the way. Major international and regional names such as Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Kalyan Jewellers, Jawhara, and Al Romaizan are among those anchoring the retail space. Additionally, 150 wholesale offices are set to operate from the first floors, reinforcing Dubai’s long-standing role in the global gold trade.

Executives behind the project emphasized transparency and fair trade, noting that there is no key money required for retailers, enabling a curated mix of tenants under one landlord. As part of Dubai’s ongoing effort to strengthen its reputation as the “City of Gold,” the new Souk Extension is expected to attract more tourists, boost footfall, and ensure the city’s legacy in the gold trade continues for generations.
