Etihad Rail has unveiled ambitious plans for a high-speed rail network in the UAE, significantly reducing travel time between Abu Dhabi and Dubai to just 30 minutes. This marks a major improvement from the previously announced 50-minute journey, enhancing connectivity between key destinations. The high-speed rail will reach speeds of up to 350 km/h, passing through strategic locations and major tourist attractions for seamless and efficient travel.
While the project is still in its early stages, Etihad Rail is actively seeking bids for contracts and finalizing network designs. The announcement represents a significant step forward in the UAE’s national rail expansion, which is currently limited to freight services. Over the coming years, multiple phases of the project will be developed, eventually rolling out passenger services across all emirates.
The initiative is backed by UAE’s leadership, who see it as a transformative project that will enhance quality of life for citizens, residents, and visitors. Alongside the high-speed rail, the first four passenger stations were announced in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah, ensuring wider accessibility. These stations will integrate with metro and bus networks, offering business-class lounges, retail spaces, and family-friendly amenities, shaping a modern, interconnected transport system.
