new airport terminal

Dubai is all set to break world records once again since His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved plans for a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport. Once ready, it will become the largest in the world. Built on a budget of AED 128 billion, it will handle up to 260 million passengers annually.

Al Maktoum International Airport will be five times larger than the current Dubai International Airport, and all the operations will be transferred to the new airport in the coming years. The airport will feature 400 aircraft gates and five parallel runways, incorporating new aviation technologies that will be employed for the first time in the sector.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed has reviewed the master plan for what is being dubbed the ‘Airport of the Future’. This airport will cover an expansive area of 70 square kilometres. It will also handle 12 million tonnes of cargo per year.

The airport will offer cutting-edge technologies, unmatched passenger facilities, and state-of-the-art aviation support services. Al Maktoum International Airport’s integrated approach aims to leverage local resources and climatic conditions to achieve sustainability goals. It aims to achieve a LEED Gold Certification, highlighting its commitment to environmental sustainability.

This project not only represents a significant advancement in global aviation infrastructure but also reaffirms Dubai’s status as a pioneering force in the aviation industry, setting new benchmarks for others to follow.
