Dubai has unveiled a new orchestra initiative aimed at advancing Emirati arts and culture on the global stage. Backed by directives from Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed and approved by the Executive Council, the “Dubai Orchestra” project is part of a broader vision to position the city as a cultural hub and creative incubator.

The project outlines ambitious goals, including ensuring that 50 percent of orchestra members are Emirati by 2033. It also aims to attract top-tier talent, support the development of local creatives, and contribute to the growth of Dubai’s arts sector in alignment with the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy and the Dubai Social Agenda 33.

To achieve this, a range of youth-focused music programmes will be introduced, alongside new partnerships with community organisations. Educational pathways will be developed for emerging talent, while the project will also promote the UAE’s musical heritage on international stages.
