The Dubai Fountain, one of the city’s most visited attractions, has closed for major upgrades expected to last until October 2025. Emaar, the developer behind the project, confirmed the renovation began in May and will involve draining the 30-acre lake and installing enhanced features. While an exact reopening date is not confirmed, the transformation aims to deliver a significantly upgraded experience.
During the closure, Emaar is introducing measures to keep the area vibrant. These include 500 metres of digital screens along the promenade near Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar to maintain visitor engagement. Additionally, rent will be waived for 50 food and beverage venues with lake-facing terraces from June to September to support businesses affected by reduced footfall.
The upgraded fountain will feature advanced technology, improved choreography, and enhanced sound and lighting systems. Previously, shows included water reaching up to 140 metres in sync with music and lights. Emaar’s founder, Mohamed Alabbar, emphasized the fountain’s importance and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting tenants through the transition.
