Dubai enforces a range of fines to maintain public order, safety, and cleanliness from AED 100 for chewing gum on the metro to AED 500 for leaving your car dirty. Jaywalking can cost AED 400, while improper parking on pavements results in a AED 400 fine. The city also bans public car washing, which could lead to a fine starting at AED 100, and sleeping on metro platforms is penalized with AED 300.

Public transport comes with its own set of rules: putting feet on seats incurs a AED 100 fine, chewing gum or eating on the metro is prohibited, and special cabins like the gold class (for Gold Nol Card holders) and women-and-children cabins must be respected. All fines are enforced by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), and a full list can be found on the RTA website.

Residents should also be cautious with photography—taking photos or videos of people without consent or capturing government buildings can lead to fines ranging from AED 150,000 to AED 500,000. Dubai’s regulations may seem strict, but they are part of the city’s efforts to ensure safety, order, and respect in public spaces.
