A new desert tourism destination, Al Layan Oasis, has been announced in Al Marmoom Desert as part of Dubai’s expanding leisure landscape. Spanning 10 million square feet, the project will introduce a lake, open-air cinema, camping zones and outdoor trails. The development aims to create a nature-led escape within reach of the city.
At the heart of the oasis will be a 2.5 million square foot lake surrounded by recreational facilities, sports tracks and dedicated camping areas. The destination will be divided into four zones — Hub Park, Family Park, Canyon Park and Trailer Park — offering varied outdoor experiences. Located around 50 minutes from central Dubai, it is expected to attract up to 330,000 visitors annually.
The site will feature 14 kilometres of walking and cycling paths, including 4 kilometres of elevated tracks rising five metres above ground level. Plans also include expanded native planting, shaded areas and infrastructure supported by 1,000 parking spaces. The project forms part of Dubai’s Blue and Green Roadmap, backed by an AED 4 billion allocation.
