Jebel AliPublic Beach

If you’re a beach lover, Dubai has exciting news for you! The city is set to unveil its longest beach, stretching 6.6 kilometres. The Dubai government has approved the master plan for the Jebel Ali beach development, which promises to be a top recreational destination while prioritising environmental preservation and local wildlife protection.

The Jebel Ali Beach development project is set to transform Dubai’s coastline with the longest public beach in the city, stretching an impressive 6.6 kilometres and covering 330 hectares.

Jebel Ali Beach will feature a diverse range of services and public amenities, introducing a new eco-tourism experience where visitors can observe turtles in their natural habitat. To protect these marine creatures, measures will be implemented to ensure safe nesting environments, aligning with the UAE’s broader efforts to rescue, rehabilitate, and preserve its rich marine life.

Located within the Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary, which is recognised under the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance, the Jebel Ali Beach development will be the first of its kind in the UAE. It will focus on preserving and enhancing local ecosystems, including improving turtle habitats and planting mangrove trees to contribute to blue carbon footprint growth.

The architectural design of the beach’s buildings and facilities will draw inspiration from natural marine shapes, such as coral and turtle shells, and incorporate boho style elements using locally available materials.

Key Things To Know About Jebel Ali Beach Development

The development plan includes two key components: a 5 km sandy beach developed by Nakheel and a 1.6 km mangrove beach developed by Dubai Municipality. Furthermore, the beach will be divided into three distinct zones:

The Pearl: Located near the entrance of Palm Jebel Ali, this area will be a hub for beach and recreational activities, featuring a lively family beach, sports facilities, a swimming pool, kids’ play zones, a beach club with a private area, several dining options, and a floating restaurant.

The Sanctuary: This zone will provide a haven for turtles and other natural habitats, prioritizing environmental conservation. It will also offer recreational and sports activities that promote safe exploration of the environment.

The Nest: Situated within the mangrove area, this zone will serve as an educational and recreational destination. It will include an environmental centre dedicated to studying and raising awareness about biodiversity, turtle rehabilitation programs, and opportunities for visitors to engage in coastal ecosystem preservation.

Lastly, the project will feature public health and service facilities, including restrooms, showers, changing rooms, and designated areas for sports, BBQs, and seasonal events. Additionally, there will be about 1,400 parking spaces, including spots for electric vehicles, as well as drinking water stations, irrigation networks, and modern automatic systems to enhance green spaces.
