Hessa Street has undergone a major upgrade, with the first phase of the redevelopment now complete. The project stretches from Sheikh Zayed Road to Al Khail Road, expanding the road from two lanes to four in each direction. As a result, travel time has been reduced from 15 minutes to just four minutes while doubling road capacity.

The redevelopment includes upgraded intersections, new bridges, ramps, and improved traffic flow along one of Dubai’s busiest routes. The completed works serve key communities including Al Sufouh, Al Barsha, and Jumeirah Village Circle. The road is now capable of handling up to 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions.

Construction of the second phase is now underway, extending from Al Khail Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The next stage will include three upgraded intersections, over 8.8 kilometres of bridges, a 480-metre tunnel, and enhanced entry and exit points. Once completed, it is expected to reduce journey times along this section from 24 minutes to just five minutes.
