Sharjah will soon welcome a new eco-retreat under the Sharjah Collection, with Nomad set to launch in Kalba’s mountain valleys by the end of 2025. The retreat will feature 20 solar-powered trailers built locally, offering an off-grid experience with no Wi-Fi and minimal light to encourage digital disconnection and stargazing. Designed for privacy and sustainability, Nomad reflects Shurooq’s commitment to slow living and ecological balance.
The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has invested over AED 300 million into the Sharjah Collection, a portfolio of seven retreats spread across the emirate’s deserts, coasts, mountains, and heritage towns. Each destination highlights Sharjah’s cultural and natural diversity, with properties such as Al Faya Retreat in Mleiha’s desert, Kingfisher Retreat in Kalba’s mangroves, and Moon Retreat in Mleiha National Park. Together, the collection now offers 154 accommodation units designed to blend heritage, wellness, and sustainability.
Officials note that global demand for slow travel and wellness tourism continues to rise, with the sector expected to exceed $1 trillion in 2025. Through Nomad and its wider eco-retreat portfolio, Shurooq aims to create meaningful travel experiences that protect biodiversity, celebrate local heritage, and support community development. This approach positions Sharjah as a growing destination for mindful, sustainable tourism in the region.
