Dubai Gold Souk is one of the city’s oldest and most iconic marketplaces, offering a glimpse into Dubai’s trading history. Located in the heart of Deira, the souk dates back to the early 1900s and gained international fame in the 1970s during Dubai’s rapid development. Easily accessible via Al Ras Metro Station, the area remains a favorite for both tourists and residents seeking authentic charm and vibrant market scenes.
The souk is renowned for its vast selection of gold, including traditional Arab designs and contemporary jewellery styles. Shoppers can find everything from engagement rings and bangles to gemstone-studded pieces, featuring diamonds, sapphires, and more. With nearly ten tonnes of gold on display at any given time, visitors are encouraged to check the daily gold rate before making a purchase.
Open daily from around 10am to 10pm, the best time to visit is during the cooler months or in the early evening when temperatures are milder. The souk’s mostly outdoor layout is shaded and walkable, offering a comfortable experience even in warmer seasons. While there, visitors can also explore the nearby Spice Souk, known for its aromatic herbs, spices, and vibrant local trade.
